About the role:
Are you passionate about mental health recovery and eager to use your lived experience to support others on their journey? AnglicareCQ in Gladstone is seeking a compassionate and motivated Peer Support Worker to join our team and help foster hope, connection and empowerment in the lives of those we serve.
What will a typical day look like?
- Build trust and mutual understanding through meaningful conversations with individuals accessing our services.
- Facilitate group activities aimed at reducing social islation and enhancing community engagement.
- Actively contribute to reducing stigma and discrimination surrounding mental health.
- Share your personal recovery journey to inspire hope, self-belief, and resilience.
- Develop and nurture strong partnerships with key stakeholders.
Mandatory Requirements:
- Certificate IV/Diploma in AOD/Mental Health/Peer work or tertiary qualifications in social science
- 1 + year relevant work experience in the Mental Health Sector or Intentional Peer Support Training
- Lived experience of Mental Health and Recovery, including navigaing health services, and a willingness to use that experience to support others on their journey.

- Effective time management and organisational skills.
- A strong communicator, able to quickly build rapport and influence across a diverse range of people.
Other Requirements:
- Full COVID-19 Vaccination
- Ability to obtain a Blue Card (working with children check positive notice or exemption)
- Ability to obtain a Yellow Card (disability services positive notice or exemption notice)
