The Opportunity
As the Waste Senior Projects and Compliance Officer you’ll lead the planning, delivery, and compliance of Council’s waste and recycling infrastructure projects, including landfill construction, upgrades, and rehabilitation. You’ll ensure all activities meet EPA regulations, licensing conditions, and environmental standards.
The position also oversees auditing, reporting, and monitoring programs while guiding contractors and the Waste Compliance and Project Officer. With a strong focus on sustainability and circular economy outcomes, this role helps shape long-term waste management for the region, leading continuous improvement in waste and recycling services by identifying opportunities to reduce contamination, increase recycling and reuse, diverting waste from landfill and enabling circular economy outcomes
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver waste and recycling infrastructure projects from planning to completion
- Oversee compliance programs, auditing, and reporting in line with EPA regulations
- Provide expert advice on landfill management, licensing, and environmental standards
- Supervise staff and contractors to ensure high-quality, timely project outcomes
This is a full-time, ongoing role based in Lakes Entrance with 60/40 hybrid WFH flexibility.
What we’re looking for:
- Relevant qualifications or extensive experience in project or infrastructure management
- Strong understanding of EPA regulations and environmental compliance
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and budgets from start to finish
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Experience leading teams and contractors to deliver high-quality outcomes
If successful, you will need to undertake a police check. You must also be legally entitled to work in Australia.
