About the Position
This is an outstanding opportunity for a suitably qualified senior academic with a passion for innovative teaching and industry-informed research in property. The successful candidate will:
Teach and coordinate undergraduate and postgraduate subjects in property valuation, corporate real estate, property law, commercial valuation and related disciplines, using contemporary, student-centred methods and tools.
Pursue an independent research agenda that delivers quality publications and informs teaching, with scope to collaborate on existing projects in the property field.
Engage with industry and professional bodies (e.g. Australian Property Institute, RICS) to strengthen graduate employability and secure guest speakers, field projects and research opportunities.
Contribute to academic citizenship by supervising honours/PhD students, participating in accreditation and curriculum reviews, and serving on Faculty and/or University committees.
It is desirable that the applicant is a member of a relevant professional body such as the API, RICS, Law Society or be eligible for such membership.
The position reports to the Discipline Leader – Property Planning and Project Management within the Faculty of Society and Design and will work closely with colleagues in valuation, property development and construction management.
About the Person
The successful applicant will hold a PhD in Property (or cognate field). As a member of the academic staff team, the successful applicant will be responsible for contributing to teaching and service in the Faculty and University at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. The successful applicant will also engage in professional and industry liaison and provide student support within the Faculty.
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate the following:
Leadership in designing and delivering undergraduate and postgraduate curricula that emphasise active, authentic and technology-enhanced learning, including field/site-based activities.
Substantial professional experience in or knowledge of the Australian context in at least one of the following areas: Commercial valuation, Property development, Property law.
Internationally recognised research profile evidenced by Q1 journal publications, successful HDR supervision, mentoring of early-career academics and strong potential to grow external research partnerships.
Proven commitment to a personalised student experience, cultural sensitivity, and meaningful service to the University community, with sound knowledge of academic integrity and quality-assurance practices.
Salary details
The salary for this position is outlined below and will be negotiated commensurate with skills, qualifications, and experience.
Associate Professor B remuneration commences at $168,153.03 per annum plus 12% superannuation.
Assistant Professor A remuneration commences at $160,204.81 per annum plus 12% superannuation.
Assistant Professor B remuneration commences at $134,792.41 per annum plus 12% superannuation.
