About the opportunity
Southern Cross University’s Faculty of Health provides an innovative learning environment focused on health promotion, disease prevention, multidisciplinary care, and culturally appropriate models in partnership with Indigenous communities. The faculty covers diverse fields including nursing, midwifery, social work, biomedical science, clinical exercise physiology, diabetes management, naturopathic medicine, and more. The Faculty of Health is seeking an Associate Professor, or Professor in Osteopathy. Your core responsibilities will include:
- Deliver high-quality, student focused teaching and course design, using emerging learning technologies across various delivery modes in line with University policies.
- Contribute to curriculum development and teaching, while engaging in teaching scholarship to enhance student experience and professional practices.
- Support the Faculty’s research profile through publications, grant applications, and active participation in research aligned with priorities, providing leadership and mentoring to early career researchers.
- Foster collaboration internally and engage in community and professional activities that enhance the Faculty and University’s reputation, while supporting the professional development of staff.
- Undertake administrative duties, participate in Faculty meetings, contribute to governance, and supervise undergraduate honours and HDR students as required.
About you
You are a senior academic leader with a national or international profile in Osteopathy or a related field, passionate about advancing teaching, research, and mentoring future generations of health professionals. Your expertise guides strategic decisions and contributes to academic leadership, partnerships, and institutional growth. More specifically, you will have:
- A PhD in a relevant area related to Osteopathy
- Established professional experience as an Osteopath, with current unrestricted registration with AHPRA – or eligibility for registration if applying internationally - and preferably an advanced practitioner titling in Paediatrics, Pain Management, Sports Management, or Exercise-based Rehabilitation. - An outstanding record of achievement in tertiary education, including leadership in curriculum design, accreditation processes, and innovative learning design.
- Deep expertise in contemporary educational technologies and their strategic application across online, blended, and face to face learning environments.
- An internationally recognised research profile, demonstrated by high-impact publications, research leadership, successful supervision of research students, and collaboration with industry or community partners.Additional Requirement at Level D – Successful record of academic leadership, including the ability to lead innovation and inspire excellence amongst colleagues
Additional Requirement at Level E – National or global contributions and esteem as an Osteopath, through associations, committees, keynote presentations at conferences, or other. Demonstrated success in research through successful grant applications
Salary and benefits
This is a full-time, continuing position at Academic Level D or E based at our Gold Coast campus. Generous relocation support is available to those relocating to commence the appointment. The level of appointment will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications, skills and experience.
- Academic Level D: $161,784 - $177,948 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $208,199.
- Academic Level E: $207,573 per annum, plus 17% employer’s contribution to superannuation. The total remuneration package is up to $242,860.41.
