They are seeking an experienced governance professional to step into a high-impact Principal - Governance Officer role. This is a rare opportunity to join a high-performing, purpose-led organisation at the centre of Queensland’s financial strategy.
The Role
As the Principal – Governance Offcier, you will play a critical role in supporting the Board and Executive Committees by delivering expert-level governance and secretariat services. This is a dynamic, hands-on role, ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced, high-accountability environments, and who brings sound judgement, strong technical writing skills, and deep governance expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate aspects of Board and committee meeting logistics including agendas, minutes, papers, and follow-up actions.
- Provide secretariat services to key Executive Committees with a particular focus on the Risk Committee.
- Draft high-quality technical documents, such as board packs, performance reports, and CEO-level summaries.
- Oversee governance processes such as conflict of interest declarations, board records, and policy compliance.
- Maintain and improve corporate governance frameworks, policies, and procedures.
- Support onboarding and induction of new Board members and senior executives.
- Partner with internal stakeholders and related Boards on governance, reporting, and administration.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a governance, secretariat, or company secretarial role.
- Strong technical writing and minute-taking ability across highly complex subject matter.
- Excellent knowledge of corporate governance frameworks and regulatory compliance.
- Experience supporting Board-level stakeholders in government, financial services, or large corporate environments.
- Ability to build trusted relationships and navigate sensitive governance issues with professionalism and discretion.
- Comfortable working with ambiguity and managing multiple priorities under pressure.
Ideal backgrounds may include government agencies, financial institutions, investment banking, superannuation funds, or state-owned entities.
Qualifications
Essential:
- A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Law, Business, Public Policy).
Desirable:
- Professional qualification in company secretarial practice
- Advanced degree in a related discipline.
