About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Leading Hand to oversee a 3-person crew (yourself, an excavator operator, and a labourer) across various sites from Mandurah to Yanchep. This is a casual role with full-time hours (approx. 10–11 hour days), paid at a flat hourly rate, with the potential for long-term employment for the right candidate. You’ll work closely with the supervisor to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate the daily activities of the crew on site

Set up and operate rotating laser for level control

Read, interpret, and work from construction drawings and plans

Ensure safe work practices, particularly around live services and in rail environments

Complete required site documentation, including Take 5s, JHAs, SWMS, and dig permits

Liaise closely with the site supervisor to meet project milestones and quality standards

Assist with hands-on tasks as required, including excavation, conduit and pit installation, and concrete pours

What We’re Looking For

Previous experience as a Leading Hand or Senior Civil Labourer

Strong knowledge of civil construction, excavation, and concrete works

Ability to read and interpret plans and set up rotating lasers

Experience working safely around live services and/or in rail environments (preferred)

White Card (required); other tickets (e.g., Rail Industry Worker, Working at Heights, Confined Space) highly regarded

Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills

Safety-first attitude with a commitment to producing quality work
