The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Project Officer to provide a critical role within Offender Services and Reintegration, Education and Vocational Training Branch.
About the Business Unit
The Offender Services and Reintegration (OSR) division of Corrections Victoria (CV) is responsible for providing best practice interventions which aim to reduce the risk of reoffending including case management, education and employment, prison industries and rehabilitation and reintegration supports. The division contributes to a safer community by supporting a safe and humane corrections system that provides opportunities for rehabilitation, supports reintegration and works toward Aboriginal self-determination.
The Education and Vocational Training Branch operates alongside the Employment Pathways Branch and Prison Industries Branch within OSR, ensuring an integrated approach to the provision of vocational education and training and meaningful post release employment outcomes of people in our care, inclusive of many industries operating within the prisons.
About the Role
The Project Officer reports to the General Manager, EVT and is responsible for work on a range of initiatives that aim to improve education, training and employment outcomes (Centres of Excellence) for people in our care, thereby reducing the risk of re-offending.
Some of your duties will include:
- Contribute to the development and application of contemporary policy and programs for the EVT team.
- Coordinate and provide operational support in the provision of distance education
- Provide support for the implementation of projects related to correctional education & vocational training (VET) as required, including collecting, analysing and presenting project data and maintaining project documentation in accordance with organisational and information system requirements.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience relating to vocational education and training and adult learning
- Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience of working in distance education or higher education would be highly regarded
- Knowledge and experience relating to the correctional education system or learners with complex needs would be an advantage.
Qualifications/requirements
- There are no mandatory qualifications required for this role, however it is preferred that the successful applicant will have experience in data analysis and qualifications in education and training with qualifications in and an understanding of the Vocational Educational and Training and/or Employment sectors.
