HR Manager – Lead Transformation & Build HR Foundations
Salary: $150,000–$160,000 + Superannuation
Location: Melbourne

Our client is undergoing a significant business transformation, including a merger and restructure, and is seeking a dynamic and experienced HR Manager to lead the human resources function through this exciting period of change.
This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of the HR function from the ground up—designing, implementing, and embedding best-practice frameworks that will support the business now and into the future.
About the Role Reporting directly to executive leadership, the HR Manager will play a critical role in shaping the people strategy and ensuring operational excellence across the full employee lifecycle. You will lead one direct report (HR Administrator) and work closely with senior stakeholders across the business to deliver a fit-for-purpose HR function that supports growth, compliance, and culture.
This is a hands-on, strategic, and operational role that requires a leader who is equally comfortable in the boardroom and on the ground.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic HR Leadership
- Partner with executive leadership to develop and execute a people strategy aligned with business transformation goals
- Provide expert HR advice and insights to support organisational design, change management, and workforce planning
- Lead the HR workstream of a global merger and restructure, ensuring smooth integration and alignment of people practices
HR Operations & Compliance
- Build and implement HR infrastructure including systems, policies, and procedures
- Ensure compliance with employment legislation across multiple jurisdictions
- Develop and maintain core HR documentation including employment contracts, policies, templates, and handbooks
- Implement a fit-for-purpose HRIS/CRM system to streamline processes and improve data integrity
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
- Oversee end-to-end recruitment processes, from workforce planning and job design to candidate sourcing and selection
- Partner with hiring managers to ensure a seamless and inclusive recruitment experience
- Design and deliver structured onboarding programs to support new hire engagement and retention
Performance & Development
- Develop and embed performance development frameworks including PDPs and PIPs
- Support leaders in managing performance, coaching, and capability development
- Identify training needs and coordinate learning and development initiatives
Employee Relations & Engagement
- Act as a trusted advisor on employee relations matters, ensuring fair and consistent outcomes
- Foster a positive workplace culture through engagement initiatives and communication strategies
- Lead initiatives to support diversity, equity, and inclusion
Offboarding & Exit Management
- Manage offboarding processes including exit interviews, knowledge transfer, and compliance
- Analyse exit data to identify trends and inform retention strategies
About You You are a seasoned HR professional with a strong generalist background and a proven track record of leading HR functions through periods of change. You thrive in fast-paced, evolving environments and are passionate about building scalable, people-first solutions.
You will bring:
- Extensive experience in senior HR roles, ideally within global or complex organisations
- Demonstrated success in leading HR through mergers, restructures, or other large-scale transformations
- Strong knowledge of employment law, HR systems, and compliance across multiple jurisdictions
- Experience implementing HRIS or CRM systems
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills
- A hands-on, solutions-focused approach with the ability to work strategically and operationally
- Experience mentoring and developing HR team members
