About the role
Temporary Full time up to February 2026. The Place Activation Project Officer works to support a fine grain approach to the management of significant places within our city and supports a clear line of sight from Council’s objectives through processes and outputs to expected outcomes and deliverables. This professional role is generalist in nature and can having changing portfolios over time. Current work plans will be focused on delivering a broad range of activities that strengthen and support the revitalisation and renewal of our significant places including the Penrith City Centre, St Marys Town Centre and Kingswood Traders area. The role works with a range of partners internally and externally to build strong relationships and deliver targeted programs.
Essential criteria
- Tertiary qualifications with a focus on Community Engagement, Communication, Event Management, Arts or Business.
- Demonstrated excellent communication, negotiation and relationship building skills.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering innovative and effective place-based strategies to enhance and support activation.
- Capacity to build networks and collaboration for the purpose of delivering outcomes.
- Experience in all aspects of event promotion, management and delivery.
Desirable criteria
- Understanding of the needs of small business.
- Understanding of risk management within a local government context.
- Experience in working with artists for the purpose of delivering creative programs.
Commencing salary: $99,060.00 per annum, plus 12% Superannuation.
You will be required to undertake employment checks, which may include a Criminal History Check, Qualification Check, Working with Children Check, Medical Declaration and/or a Functional Test, as relevant to the position for which you have applied. Where a Criminal History Check is required and has returned a result that indicates disclosable court outcomes, you will be required to provide a copy of the report to Penrith City Council, for review, in order to progress through the recruitment process.
