About the Business Unit:
Hopkins Correctional Centre is a medium security protection prison located in Ararat which accommodates up to 798 sentenced and remand offenders.
H.M. Prison Langi Kal Kal is a minimum-security men's protection prison located 140klm west of Melbourne at Trawalla. H.M. Prison Langi Kal Kal accommodates up to 415 offenders.
About the Role:
Reporting to the Facility Manager, the Fire Awareness Officer will maintain a range of databases from which statistical analysis will inform prison management of potential risks.
Some of your duties will include:
- Reporting the current state and activities in fire awareness on a monthly basis to the to the Facility Manager
- Delivering fire awareness training to staff and prisoners as required by the Workforce Development Supervisor
- Forwarding training data to the Workforce Development Team in a timely manner.

About You:
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
- The ability to resolve issues through deep understanding or interpretation of existing guidelines and, where guidelines are not available, able to use initiative to analyse ideas both independently and within a team
- The ability to coordinate change initiatives while providing clear guidance through coaching and supporting others in adopting change while identifying barriers to change and work with others to develop and implement relevant change strategies
- Experience in fire management and fire equipment maintenance.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Completion of Corrections Victoria Fire Awareness Officer Qualification course (or willingness to complete training)
