The Role

As the Senior Technical Officer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing policies in technical, administrative and legislative matters relating to building standards.

The position also provides high level technical, policy and building standards advice to the Minister and other key stakeholders, as well as monitoring the performance of the building standards within the State.

Negotiate and consult with key stakeholders on new and enhanced policies, building codes, standards and legislation.

Provide specialist high level building standards advice to the Minister, the Department, other government agencies, local governments, industry and individuals.

Represent the Department at industry forums, on committees and working parties as required.

Liaise with Policy and Legislation branch to develop regulatory amendments required for implementation of building standards.

Travel intrastate and interstate as required.

Qualifications & Licenses

A registered builder or building surveyor with a certificate of registration under the Building Services (Registration) Regulations 2011 or relevant tertiary or professional qualification in a building related field.
