Senior Advisor – Data Engineering | $1,200–$1,300/day + super | Data Governance Uplift

Bluefin Resources is proud to partner with a prestigious public institution to recruit a Senior Advisor, Data Engineering for a long-term contract with strong extension potential.

This is a key technical leadership opportunity to shape and drive the uplift of the university’s enterprise data platform and support implementation of a fit-for-purpose data governance framework - laying the foundation for a more scalable, connected and strategic data ecosystem.

The Role:
As the Senior Advisor Data Engineering, you’ll lead a team of seven, design the data platform roadmap, and embed architecture and controls that enable secure, governed and high-quality data delivery across the institution.

This position is central to the Enterprise Data Governance Uplift program - working closely with governance leaders to deliver sustainable, federated data ownership models and improved platform maturity.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead a team of 7 engineers in delivering scalable, cloud-aligned data solutions
• Define and deliver a future-focused data platform architecture roadmap
• Implement ingestion, transformation and automation pipelines
• Embed technical controls that align with governance, compliance and security policies
• Collaborate across ICT, strategy and executive stakeholders
• Drive data availability, quality and governance across all domains

What You’ll Bring:

• Proven leadership in data engineering within enterprise or public sector environments
• Strong grasp of data governance frameworks (e.g. DAMA)
• Experience designing and implementing enterprise data architecture
• Familiarity with tools like Talend, Fivetran, Coalesce or similar
• Excellent cross-functional engagement skills
• Higher education or complex, regulated environment experience preferred

Contract Details:

• $1,200–$1,300/day + super
• Initial 6 month contract (extensions highly likely)
• Start: August 2025
• Sydney based | 2–3 days per week in-office (hybrid model)

This is an initial 6 month contract with a strong likelihood of extension, supporting a high-priority Enterprise Data Governance Uplift program.

The role is based in Sydney with a flexible hybrid working model (2–3 days in-office per week), giving you both structure and flexibility.
