Plane Creek Productivity Services Limited (PCPSL) is seeking a motivated and proactive team member to fill a dual-role position supporting growers as both a Smartcane BMP Facilitator and Sugarcane Productivity Officer. This position plays a pivotal role in improving productivity, profitability, and sustainability across the district’s cane-growing enterprises.

About the Role

Smartcane BMP Facilitator
As a facilitator the Smartcane BMP Program, you will spend 70 % of your time:

Provide one-on-one support to sugarcane growers to complete self-assessments and implement farm practice improvements aligned with Smartcane BMP core modules.

Assist new growers into the program and support reaccreditation of existing participants.

Promote the benefits of BMP at shed meetings, district events and through local networks.

Deliver targeted training and information sessions to support grower adoption of best management practices.

Coordinate and report on district progress towards accreditation, practice change, and audit milestones.

Work closely with the BMP Manager and district stakeholders to ensure robust documentation and accurate reporting.

Participate in regular facilitator meetings and maintain compliance with Smartcane BMP procedures and ethics.

Sugarcane Productivity Officer
In this role, you will be actively involved in the delivery of PCPSL’s on-ground services to growers, including:

Providing agronomic advice and extension to improve farm productivity.

Assisting in the propagation and distribution of approved SRA cane varieties.

Conducting farm inspections (plant health, machinery, and pest/disease monitoring).

Participating in events and communication activities including field days, shed meetings, and publications.

Maintaining PCPSL’s field trial and moisture probe networks.

Working collaboratively to deliver high-quality service and outcomes.

Key Selection Criteria

To be considered for this role, you will ideally possess:

A degree or diploma in Agriculture, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.

Proven understanding of agronomy, preferably with sugarcane experience.

Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and influence growers and stakeholders.

Practical experience working with landholders and delivering on-ground agricultural extension.

High level of computer literacy, especially with Microsoft Office and digital record-keeping systems.

A sound understanding of WHS and environmental compliance in agricultural settings.

A current driver's licence and a reasonable level of physical fitness.
