The Role
This newly created position presents an exciting opportunity for a commercially-minded and resilient Senior Legal Counsel to step into a key leadership role. Based on the Gold Coast, this role would suit someone who is open to relocating for a lifestyle change and professional growth.
As the first in-house legal hire, you’ll be instrumental in building the company’s internal legal capability, supporting risk management, and providing practical legal advice across core business functions including Finance, Procurement, and Operations. It’s a hands-on, strategic role that demands sound judgment, independence, and a strong commercial lens.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing practical, timely legal advice across commercial, employment, and compliance matters
• Drafting and negotiating supplier and commercial agreements
• Supporting HR with employment law and policy guidance
• Leading contract negotiations and helping manage legal risk across business units
• Building legal awareness and confidence across non-legal stakeholders
• Reducing reliance on external legal providers

Skills & Experience
We’re looking for someone with:

• 6–10 years post-qualification legal experience
• Background in commercial law, with solid contract and risk expertise
• In-house experience or secondments highly regarded
• Understanding of employment law and regulatory compliance
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
• A proactive, pragmatic, and solutions-focused mindset
• Experience in manufacturing, FMCG, or supply chain-heavy industries is a plus
