4 hours every Friday | ASAP start
ABOUT THE ROLE We are currently seeking a compassionate and experienced Support Worker fluent in AUSLAN to provide weekly support to a client in the Canberra region. This role is ideal for someone passionate about empowering others and committed to inclusive communication.
You’ll be working directly with a Deaf or hard-of-hearing individual to assist with community access and personal support, helping them maintain independence and engage with their environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Communicate fluently with the client using AUSLAN
- Provide support during community outings and daily tasks
- Follow support plans and report any changes or concerns
- Maintain clear professional boundaries and confidentiality
- Foster a respectful and safe support environment
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a disability support or personal care role
- Proven fluency in AUSLAN
- Ability to build rapport and work independently
- Strong interpersonal and organisational skills
- Experience working with Deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals is highly regarded
ELIGIBILITY
- Current Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) Card – ACT
- Valid National Police Check
- Availability every Friday for 4 hours
- Current First Aid and CPR (or willingness to obtain)
