Minelab Electronics Pty Ltd Ltd (Minelab) is seeking a highly experienced Senior Software Engineer to join our growing team to work across designing, developing, and deploying sophisticated algorithms and applications for Minelab metal detector products to enhance buried-object detection and classification.

What will you be doing?

Engineering, design, and innovation are the core of Minelab's sustained global success.

The successful applicant will design, develop, test and install software applications to signal processing algorithms for Minelab's metal detector products. You will be working with high-fidelity sensors to detect and classify faint signals in challenging environments.

As a Senior Software Engineer embedded in a cross-functional team, you'll:

• Design, implement, and test new feature engineering approaches, classifiers, and sensor calibration algorithms.
• Contribute to the development of applications and software in Python and embedded C++, working closely with physicists, hardware engineers, and systems engineers.
• Tackle complex algorithmic deficiencies and problems in detection, classification, and robust estimation that underpin metal detection performance.
• Influence software architecture decisions and mentor junior employees

What makes a successful Senior Software Engineer within our Signal Processing teams

To be successful in your application for this engaging opportunity you will require the following attributes:

• Bachelor's Degree or higher in computer science, electronic engineering, mathematics, physics, or a related technical field
• PhD/MSc in relevant field is highly desirable
• 10+ years of experience as a software engineer (or related/similar).
• Experience in translating stakeholder requirements into feasible technical problems to be solved
• Experience with technical oversight of small teams (3+ engineers) is desirable
• Exceptional skills in statistical signal processing, digital signal processing, sensor processing algorithms, machine learning or related areas
• Expert-level proficiency with numerical computing (e.g., Python scientific stack)
• Strong grasp of statistics and linear algebra
• Experience with C/C++ on embedded devices is desirable
• Understanding of electromagnetism and electronics is desirable
