Biomedical Engineering Technician/Engineer

An exciting full-time permanent position is available

Darwin based

Electromedical equipment servicing experience is preferred

A current drivers license is essential

Medical Equipment Management Australia Pty Ltd is the leading provider of specialist technical services to the healthcare, government and NGO sectors in the NT. We have been established in the Northern Territory for 30 years this year.

Medical Equipment Management’s team has a staff of 15 highly skilled and caring people located between Darwin and Alice Springs, and we are responsible for the ongoing serviceability of approximately 50% of the NT's Healthcare equipment assets, both government and private.

We currently have a vacancy for a Biomedical Engineering Technician or Engineer to join our Darwin team. (We will also consider training local NT applicants with verifiable electronics qualifications and experience in remote servicing and workshop repairs.)

We are an equal opportunity employer and as proud Territorians, we would welcome applications from qualifying First Nations people.

As part of a local team of five biomeds and three admin staff, the successful applicant will use their skills to mentor clinical staff and troubleshoot, repair and perform scheduled maintenance on a range of electromedical, dental, scientific, autoclave, audiometric, veterinary, medical IT, imaging, gas therapy equipment and AS3003 patient areas throughout the top half of the Northern Territory.

You will be based in our head office in Winnellie, as well as sharing in a roster to travel in pairs by 4WD and light aircraft to remote and very remote community health centres. You may also be given the opportunity to visit beautiful Alice Springs to support our team there as required.

MEM also offers flexible work arrangements where required, and maintains a social club.

The successful applicant will possess the necessary skills to safely and efficiently define, diagnose and repair faulty electronic, pneumatic, robotic, and medical gases systems. Skills in maintaining IT systems and familiarity with working in a structured QA environment will also be an advantage.

Responsibilities include the minimisation of operational downtime through preventative maintenance and servicing, working to ensure that operational requirements and relevant Australian Standards are met.

To be successful in this role you will:

Have previous hands-on experience in the repair and service of electronic systems is mandatory. (Whatever your qualification, there will be a basic theory test at the time of interview).

Experience with electromedical systems and gas therapy equipment will be very highly regarded. Specialist training will be provided where necessary.

Have ‘verifiable’ tertiary, technical or trade qualification in an Electronic or Biomedical Engineering discipline. (Further education to the Advanced Diploma level can be provided via remote learning where necessary)

A minimum of 2 years industry experience in the repair and service of electro-medical equipment will be mandatory if you are not a current Northern Territory resident.

Have the ability to enter work performed into a database in a timely, accurate and efficient manner;

Have excellent written and verbal, English communication skills;

Be self-motivated, self-disciplined and have a commitment to quality and continuous improvement;

Have an organised and pro-active approach to work;

Have the ability to work independently and as part of small teams, with minimal supervision.

Have a current non-restricted driver's licence.

Have or be able to obtain NT working with children (OCHRE) card, restricted electrical license, and police clearance checks.

And above all; You must genuinely care about the well being of others, recognising that you will play an integral role in the NT Health system, positive patient outcomes and our MEM teams well-being.

(A smile and a sense of humour are also mandatory!)

A competitive salary package including access to salary sacrifice benefits will be offered to the successful applicant. Tools and relocation assistance will be provided.

Applications should include a resume and cover letter highlighting specific relevant experience in previous and current employment.

To be eligible to apply for this position you MUST be resident in Australia and have the right to work in Australia. Ineligible applicants will not be considered.

Please note that only qualifying applicants will be contacted.
