Medical Practitioner – Veteran Health Services

$175 per hour | Telehealth | Part-Time (1–2 days/week)

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Practitioner to join a national program delivering structured, multidisciplinary care to Veterans experiencing chronic pain resulting from their military service.

This role is part of a clinically governed model that combines medical, allied health, and case management support, ensuring care is delivered in a consistent, regulated, and evidence-based manner. The role is fully remote, with appointments conducted via Telehealth.

About the Program

Each Veteran is assigned a case manager who undertakes a comprehensive assessment to determine eligibility for services under the Department of Veterans' Affairs (DVA). Eligible individuals are referred to a clinical panel that includes Pain Specialists and Medical Practitioners for further review and development of a tailored treatment plan.

As part of the ongoing care pathway, the Medical Practitioner provides Telehealth follow-up appointments to support continuity of care, treatment compliance, and health outcomes. Therapeutic modalities may include medicinal cannabis where clinically appropriate, prescribed strictly in accordance with DVA and TGA guidelines and under the guidance of a Pain Specialist.

Authorised Prescribers of medicinal cannabis are encouraged to apply. We also welcome practitioners who are not yet accredited but are willing to undertake the process – all costs associated with training and accreditation will be fully covered.

Benefits

Remuneration: $175 per hour

Commitment: 1–2 days per week (part-time)

Location: Fully remote – Telehealth only

Hours: Weekdays only (no after-hours or weekends)

Contract: 12 months (with opportunity for extension)

Key Requirements

Current AHPRA General Registration

Professional Indemnity Insurance

Experience working with DVA patients (desirable)

Proficient in Telehealth service delivery

Authorised Prescriber of Medicinal Cannabis, or willingness to become accredited (training and costs provided)
