Lead the e2e delivery of high impact ML and data science projects
6+ years' hands on experience in propensity driven, attribution and segmentation models
Commercial acumen and a track record of applying DS/ML to solve real-world business problems

Location - Sydney - candidates need to be based in NSW.
Hybrid work with 2 days in the office (close to CBD).

An innovative Advanced Analytics and Data Science team within a leading Australian FS provider, is looking at shifting focus from a product-centric to a customer-centric approach – never been done before, the change is driven by the desire to enhance customer satisfaction, loyalty, and long-term profitability. Their focus is on collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders to identify opportunities to apply advanced analytical techniques and drive data-driven decision making.

The Role

This is an exciting time for the business since they are in the midst of implementing a road-map for integrating customer-centric practices across their Advanced Analytics team. The Principle DS will act as a trusted advisor to senior executives on all things data science, ML, and AI.

Working with a passionate Advanced Analytics leader and a dynamic team, the Principle DS role will focus on delivery of ML and data science projects and bespoke analytical solutions to optimise marketing performance, improve customer engagement, and maximise commercial value.

Using your strong technical expertise and commercial business acumen, you will drive stakeholder communication and partnerships and manage end-to-end delivery of flagship ML/AI projects—from identifying business challenges to full-scale deployment.

Must Have

• 6+ years of industry experience in developing and deploying propensity driven (buy, convert, churn), predictive, ML (supervised/ unsupervised learning), attribution models and segmentation strategies to achieve commercial outcomes.
• Expertise in Python, SQL (Teradata), and big data tools (Hadoop, Hive, Spark).
• Experience with ML Ops: Git, Docker, Jenkins, Linux a big plus!
• Commercial acumen and a track record of applying DS/AI to real-world business problems.
• Proven leadership and mentoring experience.
• Confident stakeholder management and influence at senior levels.
• Familiarity with Agile ways of working and tools like JIRA and Confluence
