Part-time: 4 days/week (60.8 hrs/fortnight)

About the Role

The Senior Project Officer plays a key role in supporting the CEO to deliver NATSIWA’s strategic initiatives and annual work plan objectives. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to critical advocacy work that empowers Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women across Australia.

Key duties include, but are not limited to:

Supporting the CEO to deliver on funding agreements and organisational objectives

Managing project timelines, tracking deliverables, and preparing progress reports

Engaging with Board members, stakeholders, and community organisations

Preparing complex reports, submissions, correspondence, and board briefs

Upholding organisational standards in reporting, workplace health and safety, and administration

About Us

National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Women’s Alliance (NATSIWA) was established in 2009 to present solutions and priorities to Government to inform policy, and to further gender equality and improve outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women. NATSIWA provides a strong and effective voice for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women in both domestic and international policy advocacy processes.

About You

You are a highly organised, proactive professional with experience in project coordination, stakeholder engagement, and administrative support — ideally within an Indigenous, advocacy, or not-for-profit organisation. You are committed to NATSIWA’s mission of advancing the rights and opportunities of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and have a strong ability to manage competing priorities with attention to detail.

You will have:

Experience in project management, reporting, and stakeholder engagement

Strong written and verbal communication skills

The ability to liaise effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, government, and non-government agencies

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and records management

The ability to work independently and collaboratively within a small team

A commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, and cultural respect

Essential Requirements

Ability to satisfy a National Criminal History Check

Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities

Desirable

Tertiary qualification in Business Administration, Project Management, Community Development, or a related field

Experience in grant writing and policy development

To perform this role, it is essential that the person is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. It is therefore a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti- Discrimination Act 1991.
