The Short-Term Residential Accommodation Service (STRAS) unit is a dedicated 20-bed facility that provides temporary care for patients who no longer require acute hospital treatment but are awaiting placement in a residential aged care facility. The STRAS unit supports patients who have been assessed by the Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) as needing aged care services, offering a safe, supportive environment where their healthcare and daily living needs are met during this transitional period. The unit operates with a multidisciplinary approach, ensuring patients receive personalised care and assistance with the emotional, logistical, and medical aspects of moving into a long-term residential care setting.

Acute Medical Services provides immediate, short-term care for patients experiencing urgent medical conditions that require timely intervention and monitoring. These services cater to patients with a range of acute health issues, such as respiratory illnesses, cardiac events, infections, and undiagnosed conditions requiring further investigation. With a focus on stabilisation, diagnosis, and early treatment, the Acute Medical Unit operates with a multidisciplinary approach, involving doctors, nurses, and allied health professionals to ensure holistic care and smooth patient transitions to ongoing treatment or discharge.

Palliative Care offers compassionate, patient-centred support for individuals with life-limiting illnesses, focusing on improving quality of life through pain management, symptom control, and emotional support. The palliative care team works closely with patients, families, and caregivers to provide personalised care that aligns with the patient’s goals and preferences. This service ensures dignity, comfort, and respect during end-of-life care, whether patients are in the hospital or transitioning to care at home or in a residential facility.

Sub-Acute Rehabilitation Services provide specialised care for patients who no longer require acute medical treatment but still need support to regain independence and functional ability. This service is designed to assist patients recovering from surgery, injury, or illness, offering personalised rehabilitation programs tailored to individual needs. The multidisciplinary team, including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses, and other allied health professionals, works collaboratively to deliver therapies focused on mobility, strength, daily living skills, and overall well-being. The goal of Sub-Acute Rehabilitation is to facilitate a smooth transition from hospital to home or other care settings, ensuring patients achieve the highest possible level of independence.

Surgical Services provides a range of planned and emergency surgical procedures to support the health needs of the local community. The hospital offers general surgery and minor respiratory procedures. Surgical care is delivered by a skilled team of surgeons, anaesthetists, nurses, and allied health professionals who ensure patient safety, comfort, and optimal recovery outcomes. With both inpatient and day surgery options available, Belmont Hospital allows patients to undergo same-day procedures or remain in care for post-operative monitoring and rehabilitation, supporting a seamless transition back to daily life.
