GOVERNANCE OFFICER
Join us as a Governance Officer and help strengthen governance across Northern Territory Government schools.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
As a Governance Officer, you'll provide expert advice, mentoring, and training on governance to Northern Territory Government Schools. Collaborating with parents and families, you'll help build strong partnerships to enhance school governance. With travel across urban, rural, and remote communities, often requiring overnight stays and evening work, you'll empower School Councils and Boards to strengthen their practices, ensuring schools are well-equipped to support the needs of students, families, and local communities.

Engage with a wide range of urban, rural, and remote communities, building relationships and understanding local contexts to strengthen governance where it matters most.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
Strong communication skills: Ability to communicate complex legislative information clearly and effectively to a diverse audience.
Advanced MS Office proficiency: Expertise in using Microsoft Office Suite, particularly for documentation, reporting, and communication tasks.
Attention to detail: Excellent administrative skills with a focus on accuracy in documenting and managing governance matters.
Cross-Cultural Competence: Proven experience in working within diverse cultural settings, preferably with an understanding of the Northern Territory context.
Commitment to confidentiality: Experience in handling sensitive information with confidentiality and discretion.
Flexibility to work outside standard hours: Requirement to work some evenings and travel overnight during school terms.
A balance of autonomy and collaboration: Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as a member of a small, inclusive team.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA:
Experience in the delivery of training and/or education programs.
Experience with e-learning platforms and knowledge of web-based delivery methods.
Knowledge relating to school governance.
ADDITIONAL ESSENTIAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS:
Working with Children Clearance (OCHRE Card)
National Police Check
Northern Territory driver's licence
Own vehicle is required
Must comply with relevant Chief Health Officer Directions, including vaccination requirements.
