The Role
As our Finance & Compliance Officer, you’ll manage our day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and confidence in our numbers. You’ll work closely with our leadership team and external finance partners, acting as the go-to person for payroll, BAS, invoicing, and reporting.
We’re a small, agile team based in Melbourne CBD where no two days look the same and where your attention to detail and initiative will make a visible difference.
What You’ll Be Doing
Processing payroll for employees and contractors with accuracy and care
Managing contractor onboarding, documentation, and invoicing
Lodging BAS and supporting ATO compliance (GST, PAYG, FBT etc.)
Maintaining financial records in Xero and reporting dashboards (e.g. Karmly)
Monitoring cash flow, margins and profitability across our business
Liaising with our accountant and finance consultant for reporting and tax
Ensuring insurance, governance and compliance frameworks are kept current
Spotting and flagging financial or compliance risks early

What You Bring
Solid experience in a finance, bookkeeping or compliance role
A strong working knowledge of Xero (and ideally, Karmly or similar tools)
Understanding of payroll, BAS, super, FBT and contractor arrangements
Great communication skills - you can explain finance clearly, even to non-finance people
A curious mind, collaborative approach and genuine pride in getting things right
Bonus if you’ve worked in labour hire, recruitment, or a similar small business.
