Youth Justice Worker

Location: Charleville, QLD
Organisation: Lifeline Darling Downs & South West Qld Ltd
Employment Type: Full-Time Permanent
SCHADS Level 5

Are you driven to make a real difference in the lives of young people? Lifeline Darling Downs is looking for a dedicated Youth Justice Worker to engage with and empower young people—especially Indigenous youth—who are navigating the Youth Justice system.

This is your chance to be a trusted ally, guide, and advocate for change, helping young people reduce the risk of reoffending and build positive futures.

About the Role

As a Youth Justice Worker, you'll work closely with young people on Youth Justice orders, conditional bail, or restorative justice referrals. Through compassionate support and structured interventions, you’ll help them strengthen their support systems, access essential services, and develop capacity for lasting change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of young people and build meaningful, goal-focused support plans
  • Conduct strengths-based assessments and risk evaluations
  • Coordinate wraparound service responses across agencies and systems
  • Facilitate referrals to specialist supports: education, drug and alcohol counselling, behavioural interventions
  • Provide advocacy and practical support, including transport when required
  • Lead inter-agency case reviews and promote collaborative care
  • Engage youth with culturally appropriate, community-driven supports

What You’ll Bring

Mandatory:

  • Degree in Human Services or a minimum of 2 years’ experience working directly with young people
  • Flexibility to work between 8am–8pm with occasional on-call hours
  • Demonstrated commitment to safe work environments and professional supervision
  • Solid understanding of Employment Equity, Ethical Conduct, and WH&S principles
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills
  • Alignment with the values and purpose of Lifeline Darling Downs
  • Current QLD “C” class driver’s licence

Why Join Us?

  • Be part of a values-led, community-focused organisation
  • Make a genuine difference in people’s lives
  • Thrive in a supportive team with access to ongoing professional development
  • Flexible working arrangements to support work life balance
  • NFP Salary Packaging save tax and incase your take home pay with self education, remote area and device packaging.
  • 4 weeks paid parental leave, available after 12 months service, in addition to the government scheme
  • 5 weeks annual leave plus 2 bonus days off per year.
  • Career development opportunities to challenge yourself, grow and make a meaningful difference.
  • If you're a compassionate mental health professional ready to embrace early intervention and community outreach, we want to hear from you!
  • A positive and inclusive team based on respect, shard standards, strong values and a commitment to serving others.

Be part of a passionate, community-focused organisation where every day brings the chance to support, uplift, and transform lives. With access to meaningful work, collaborative teams, and ongoing professional growth, this role offers more than just employment—it offers purpose.
