The Company

Mars have partnered with a mid-tier mining organisation that are looking for a Senior Financial Accountant.

The ideal candidate will have listed reporting and system implementation experience, a process improvement mindset with a true appetite for driving change.

This will be an ongoing interim assignment but applicants with a 4 week notice period are still encouraged to apply.

The Role

• Support the selection, testing, and implementation of new financial systems (ERP, automation tools), ensuring alignment with business requirements and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with IT and other departments to ensure smooth integration of financial systems, overseeing data migration to maintain data integrity and minimise disruption.
• Configure accounting systems to meet business needs, ensuring they align with internal controls, compliance regulations, and optimise workflows for efficiency.
• Provide ongoing training and support to finance team members on new systems and processes, ensuring smooth adoption and effective use of financial software.
• Prepare timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with AASB and IFRS, ensuring transparency and integrity in reporting.
• Manage compliance with regulatory requirements, internal controls, and company policies, ensuring proper documentation and adherence across all accounting functions.
• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, working with auditors and ensuring timely reconciliations and compliance with audit requirements.

The Requirements

• CPA/CA Qualified
• Minimum 3-4 years of relevant accounting experience.
• Experience in financial system implementation or ERP upgrades (e.g., Pronto, SAP, Dynamics 365)
• Proven track record of working on finance transformation projects or system migrations.
• Solid knowledge of financial reporting standards (e.g., AASB, IFRS)
• Proficiency in Excel, data analysis tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau), and system mapping/documentation
• Mining experience is advantageous
