Apply your experience in regulatory compliance with your knowledge of the water regulatory framework and support the administration of the NT’s Water Resources.

The Department of Lands, Planning and Environment’s Water Resource Division is responsible for the administration of the Northern Territory Water Act 1992, which provides for the investigation, allocation, use, control, protection, and management of the Territory’s water resources.

As a Regulation Officer, you contribute to delivering the regulatory framework and advice to the Executive Director and support the Controller of Water Resources in performing their statutory functions.

Your key duties include, preparing written documents which summarise complex information and make clear recommendations relating to licence decisions or regulatory actions, and provide advice on the water regulatory framework and processes, applicable in the Northern Territory. In addition, you will undertake compliance and regulatory inspections, develop and implement operational policies, procedures and processes, and use information management systems to deliver water licences, permits and regulatory decisions that comply with the requirements of the Water Act 1992.

To be successful, you require demonstrated experience in simplifying complex information by critical analysis, high-quality technical writing skills and the ability to understand and apply legislation related to the Water Act 1992.

In return, you will be rewarded with a competitive remuneration package, inclusive of 12% superannuation, 6 weeks’ recreational and 3 weeks’ annual personal leave, 17.5% annual leave allowance and additional paid leave to cover the Christmas – New Year’s shut-down.
