We require a patient-centered EN/RN to provide comprehensive post-operative care and clinical support to our specialist plastic surgeon in our Fitzroy North rooms. This role will include assisting our specialist plastic surgeon with minor surgical procedures performed in-clinic under local anaesthetics. Key roles include wound care, suture removal, scar management and patient education. You’ll play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care throughout the post-operative journey, so a calm, compassionate, and professional presence is essential. Duties:

Post-op wound care, dressing changes, and scar management

Post-op Healite therapy for patients

Suture and staple removal under direction of specialist plastic surgeon

Educate patients on at-home care routines, product usage, and recovery timelines

Monitor for signs of infection or delayed healing; escalate concerns appropriately

Call and follow up with patients post-op

Support specialist plastic surgeon during procedures at Queens Parade Specialists as required

Sterilisation (autoclaving, instrument processing)

Take clinical notes and maintain patient records

Help manage inventory and stock of wound care and clinical supplies

Act as a compassionate, calm presence for anxious or recovering patients

Photograph patients

Essential:

Current AHPRA registration as an Enrolled Nurse/Registered Nurse

Experience in surgical, day procedure, or wound care environments

Skilled in dressing selection, suture removal, and infection control

Excellent bedside manner and communication skills

Desirable but not essential:

Experience with Genie

Qualification as Dermal Clinician

Experience in plastics, dermatology, day surgery, or cosmetics

Familiarity with Healite

Knowledge of scar management products

Theatre Exposure: This role may include accompanying our specialist plastic surgeon to theatre on designated days, offering valuable hands-on experience in a surgical environment beyond the clinic. This is an excellent opportunity for nurses interested in gaining direct surgical exposure.

Surgical Assistant Pathway: In addition, for those wishing to progress their career, our specialist is open to supporting further training for our nurse to become a formally qualified Surgical Assistant. This includes mentorship and potential assistance with meeting the training and supervision requirements.

Alternatively, if you are also dual-qualified as a Registered Nurse and Dermal Clinician, there is scope for this role to expand into the cosmetic side of the practice. We are currently growing this area of our practice.
