Redcliffe Hospital is seeking casual security officers to join its dynamic, fast-paced team where no two shifts are the same. Your input will truly matter as you will be a valued member of a multidisciplinary team focused on staff safety and positive patient outcomes. No security experience? No problem! We provide paid, on-the-job training to give you the skills you need. Many of our officers come from non-security backgrounds. Tired of the 9 to 5 grind? We are a 24/7/365 operation - we never close. If you are passionate about safety and want to join a close-knit, purpose-driven team, we'd love you to submit your application.
About you
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can carry out the following key accountabilities in accordance with the Metro North Health's values:
- Actively contribute to the de-escalation of aggression, conflict, or distress with a focus on preventing escalation by recognising the early stages of aggression and intervene proactively to diffuse situations before they escalate.
- Employ evidence-based de-escalation techniques, including active listening, non-confrontational body language and verbal communication strategies.
- Carry out physical interventions and clinical restraints as required.
- Take reasonable care for your own health, safety and wellbeing and take reasonable care to ensure that your acts or omissions do not adversely affect the health, safety, and wellbeing of others.
- Role model calmness, empathy, and professionalism in all interactions regardless of the nature of the incident.
- Be accountable for the security, confidentiality, and use of information in accordance with legislation, standards, policies, and procedures.
Health Equity
It is expected that all Metro North Health staff, including the incumbent of this role as a valuable member of the Metro North workforce, contribute to the health equity agenda and meet the intent of supporting the defined six actions that specifically meet the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people within the National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards (NSQHS), by actively supporting the elimination of racial discrimination and institutional racism; supporting increased access to health care; influencing the social, cultural and economic determinants of health; supporting the delivery of sustainable, culturally safe and responsive health services; and recognise the importance of working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, communities and organisations to design, deliver, monitor and review the health and support services we provide.

- Rewarding career and development opportunities across a wide range of clinical and non-clinical areas
- Value driven organisation which provides a work environment that is safe, satisfying, flexible, and promotes a healthy work-life balance
