🚀 Staff Engineer - Python / GenAI | Greenfield AI Build | Enterprise Innovation

We're hiring a Staff Software Engineer to help drive one of the most exciting AI transformations in a leading Australian Financial Institution.

In this role, you'll play a hands-on technical leadership role in building the application layer that ingests, transcribes, analyses, and summarises customer calls using GenAI frameworks, LLMs, and cloud-native tools. You'll join a newly-formed, high-performing squad within a major financial institution, working on a greenfield platform built for long-term impact.

🔧 What You'll Be Doing

• Building scalable applications in Python to integrate AI models with real-world data and CRM workflows
  
  
• Working with frameworks like LangChain, LlamaIndex, Whisper, Bedrock, and OpenAI
  
  
• Deploying and optimising GenAI systems on AWS, integrating with APIs, microservices, and data platforms
  
  
• Collaborating with product owners, platform teams, and other engineers to deliver elegant, reliable solutions
  
  
• Helping shape best practices for GenAI delivery, engineering culture, and solution architecture
  
  

✅ What We're Looking For

• Deep hands-on experience with Python engineering (ideally beyond scripting - building production apps or services)
  
  
• Strong understanding of GenAI concepts, including RAG pipelines, LLM orchestration, and model integration
  
  
• Experience deploying applications in AWS environments (e.g., Lambda, Bedrock, SageMaker, ECS/EKS)
  
  
• Proficiency with microservices, REST APIs, and backend application architecture
  
  
• Excellent communication and stakeholder skills - we want someone who can thrive in a high-trust, cross-functional team
  
  

🌱 Nice to Have

• Experience with agentic frameworks (e.g., LangGraph, AutoGen, CrewAI, Semantic Kernel)
  
  
• Familiarity with speech-to-text models (e.g., Whisper, Azure OpenAI) or summarisation systems
  
  
• Previous experience in banking, fintech, or large enterprise environments

• Hybrid model - 2-3 days onsite in Sydney CBD
  
  
• Greenfield project with significant runway (multi-year roadmap)
