The Brisbane German Language School was originally established in 1963 and remains a leading not-for-profit independent, community-based school. German language classes start from four years of age and by following a structured curriculum, extends from basic language instruction to language proficiency and fluency. As a community, the BGLS hosts large-scale community events including our signature Laternenfest.

As an equal opportunity employer, BGLS is seeking applications from interested and passionate people to fill the role of an ongoing Saturday morning teacher at our Indooroopilly campus between the hours of 0845-1145 weekly during term-times. Additionally, relief teaching is available as well on an ad-hoc basis. We welcome applications from native speakers, students, provisional, and experienced teachers, as well as those from diverse cultural backgrounds with fluency in High German.

Qualifications, Skills & Abilities:

· Experience in teaching German is desirable but not essential

· Native speaker of High German or equivalent level of language proficiency with a good understanding of German culture

· Valid Blue Card for Working with Children (or ability to obtain one) before commencement

· Self-motivation, effective time management, lesson planning and the ability to work unsupervised

· Maintain responsibility for the progress, assessment, welfare, and discipline of students with support from fellow teachers, coordinators, and administrators

· Develop constructive relationships with students, parents and staff

· A high level of written and verbal communication skills in both English and German

· Help with BGLS community events
