The Office of the General Counsel (OGC) is responsible for the provision of in-house legal services across the Department of Justice and Community Safety, to the Attorney-General as First Law Officer, and to other DJCS Ministers.
OGC supports a variety of policy and frontline service delivery functions for clients including Corrections Victoria, Youth Justice, Aboriginal Justice, Emergency Management, Tobacco Licensing Victoria, and Gaming and Liquor.

Some of your duties will include:
- Providing solutions based legal and policy advice, both written and oral, on issues relevant to government, ministers, and the department, both individually and as part of a team of solicitors
- Independently manage multiple complex and sensitive matters (both litigation and advisory) for various clients.
- Undertake legal research and analysis on complex legal matters with outstanding statutory interpretation skills.

About You:
As our ideal candidate, you will possess:
- Technical legal skills with the ability to analyse complex operational, policy and legal issues, interpret legislation and develop accurate legal solutions, proactively seeking supervision where required
- Experience providing legal advice in relation to public or administrative law matters, or in civil or criminal litigation
- Experience in, or knowledge of, Victorian Government and Cabinet processes
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Admitted, or eligible to be admitted, to practice as a legal practitioner in Victoria.
