Day Shift
6am – 6pm
$40 - $50 per hour (depending on experience)

Night Shift
6pm – 6am
$50 - $60 per hour (depending on experience)

About the Role

A Fixed Plant Operator in manufacturing is responsible for operating and maintaining machinery and equipment used in the production process. Their primary role is to ensure the efficient and consistent operation of the production line while adhering to safety guidelines and quality standards.

It is a requirement of the position to report faults and follow through on rectification works by the maintenance team.

The Fixed Plant Operator is expected to carry out minor maintenance tasks such as greasing and swap out of minor components.

Role Responsibilities

Equipment Setup: Set up and prepare machinery and production equipment before the start of each production run. This includes conducting routine checks, calibrating instruments, and ensuring proper functioning of the equipment.

Operation Monitoring: Monitor the production process closely to ensure that all machines are running consistently and efficiently. Keep an eye out for any malfunctions, abnormalities, or deviations from standard operating procedures. When these occur, the Line operator will provide clear and concise information to the maintenance team to assist in the efficient repair of the plant under fault.

Quality Control: Conduct regular quality checks and inspections to verify that products meet specified standards and requirements. This may involve using measuring instruments, conducting visual inspections, and performing tests at various stages of the production process.

Collaboration: Coordinate and communicate with other team members, such as supervisors, technicians, and quality control personnel, to ensure smooth coordination and workflow. Effective teamwork is crucial to maintaining production efficiency and meeting production targets.

Keep the worksite clean to avoid hazards

Work in partnership with your supervisor to agreed performance standards and mutual expectations. Give and receive regular feedback to enable performance to be improved.

Actively manage your own performance by identifying your own requirements regarding personal and professional development and utilise opportunities that are made available to develop new or enhance existing skills to optimise your potential within Rino Recycling.

Cooperate in a professional manner with all customers, team and management and act in accordance with the company values to achieve a harmonious and productive work environment.

reporting and where possible immediately rectifying any unsafe condition or behaviour identified

Any other duties, projects or responsibilities as directed, within the limits of their skill, competence, and training, and consistent with their classification level.

Key Skills and Experience

Professional Experience and Education and Qualifications

High School Certificate

Previous experience as a fixed plant worker or similar role in an automated manufacturing plant.

Previous experience in the Waste industry preferred.

Good understanding of how automated production equipment works

Ability to detect potential problems with machinery and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to fixed plant equipment.

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 2 years in a production line operator role, preferably in a fixed plant environment.

Forklift, EWP and working at heights tickets preferred.

Thorough understanding of and experience in Lean manufacturing principles

Skills and Knowledge

Strong knowledge of automated production lines

Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing environment, with a strong commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.

Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and implement solutions.

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels of the organization.

Proficient in using Microsoft Office suite and (Scada software, preferably Ignition).

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing circumstances.

Additional Information

Must be an Australian Citizen.

Must hold and maintain a valid driver’s licence.

Employees may be required to undertake duties within the limits of their skill, competence, and training, consistent with their classification level, in any area of Rino Recycling.

Be able to pass a medical assessment.
