KW Automation is a specialist engineering and manufacturing small business on the Sunshine Coast specialising in the design, manufacture and production of Automation equipment servicing Horticulture, Aquaculture and Fruit & vegetables industries. We are looking for a motivated individual to join us in a permanent full-time role based on the Sunshine Coast. The opportunity will allow you to grow and broaden your skills and expand your knowledge, while supporting the primary production industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Installation and Commissioning:

· Assemble, install, and commission electrical components, including motors, inverters, control panels, and automation systems integral to manufacturing operations.

· Prepare, lay out, and install wiring, cabling, and electrical distribution systems for new machinery and production lines.

· Integrate all KW Automation machinery along with existing on-site machinery.

Maintenance and Repairs:

· Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical systems to minimize unplanned downtime.

· Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair faults in industrial electrical systems, including PLCs (programmable logic controllers) and drives, ensuring systems run efficiently.

Documentation and Compliance:

· Read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and electrical blueprints relevant to manufacturing equipment.

· Document maintenance activities, repair work, and system modifications, adhering to health and safety regulations and industry standards (e.g., AS/NZS wiring rules).

Collaboration and Continuous improvement:

· Work closely with production, engineering, and safety teams to optimize electrical installations and implement process enhancements.

· Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, recommending upgrades and modifications to improve system reliability and safety.

Safety and Environmental standards:

· Strictly follow manufacturing safety protocols and contribute to the development of electrical safety practices.

· Assist in safety audits and ensure compliance with environmental regulations and industry best practices.

Licenses/Certifications:

· Current Electrical Fitter/Mechanic License or eligibility to obtain one.

· Current Australian Driver’s licence

Qualifications and Skills:

Experience:

· Demonstrated experience in electrical installation, maintenance, and repairs within a manufacturing or industrial setting.

· Familiarity with automated systems, PLCs, and industrial control systems is highly desirable.

Technical Competence:

· Proficient in reading and interpreting technical documentation, electrical schematics, and control circuit diagrams.

· Competence in using diagnostic and testing equipment to evaluate system performance under operational conditions.

Soft Skills:

· Strong problem-solving skills—able to diagnose complex electrical issues quickly under production pressures.

· Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, with a commitment to collaborating with various departments.

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to work in a manufacturing environment.

· Capability to lift and transport heavy components and equipment, meeting safety and ergonomic standards.

· Willingness to work overtime when production demand is necessary.

· Active participation in safety training sessions and regular safety audits to champion a zero-incident culture.
