About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Teacher Aide – Learning Support for a fixed term part time (26 hours per week) position (school term time only) for the remainder of the 2025 academic year. This role will involve working closely with students requiring additional learning assistance, providing both in-class and withdrawal support under the direction of the Head of Learning Support, Learning Support Teacher, and classroom teachers. The successful candidate will play a key role in fostering a positive learning environment and helping students achieve their individual learning goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement the Learning Support Policy and Procedures as appropriate.
  • Read and implement strategies, adjustments, and IEP goals as outlined in Student Profiles.
  • Assist in developing individualised Learning Support programs for eligible students, facilitating both in-class and withdrawal support.
  • Provide in-class or small group support, following timetables and programs under the guidance of the Head of Learning Support and Learning Support Teacher.
  • Suggest adjustments and modifications to meet student needs, collaborating with the Head of Learning Support, Learning Support Teacher, and classroom teachers.
  • Facilitate specific programs with individuals or small groups, as directed.
  • Mentor Learning Support students, assisting with their pastoral and organisational needs.
  • Provide feedback on student progress to class teachers, the Head of Learning Support, or the Learning Support Teacher.
  • Demonstrate understanding of classroom procedures, curriculum material, and assessment tasks as they relate to Learning Support students.
  • Operate classroom technology at an intermediate level and assist with administering tests and diagnostic assessments.
  • Participate in post-program evaluation and progress mapping.
  • Attend meetings as requested by the Head of Learning Support and assist with training new or trainee Learning Support Teacher Aides.

What you will bring:

  • Learning Support Experience: Previous experience in a learning support role, preferably in an educational setting, with in-class and small group support for diverse student needs.
  • Policy and Legislation Knowledge: Strong understanding of Learning Support Policy, the Disability Act, and Disability Standards for Education to ensure compliance.
  • Behaviour Management: Experience in implementing Behaviour Management plans and supporting students in meeting behaviour expectations.
  • Individualised Learning Programs: Ability to assist in developing and delivering individualised learning programs for both in-class and withdrawal support.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Strong skills in collaborating with teachers and Learning Support staff to suggest adjustments and provide regular feedback on student progress.
  • Student Mentorship: Experience mentoring students, providing pastoral and organisational support for their academic and personal development.
  • Technology Skills: Proficient in classroom technology, test administration, and diagnostic assessments.
  • Adaptability and Initiative: Able to adjust to diverse student needs and propose creative learning solutions.
  • Attention to Detail: Skilled in implementing strategies, adjustments, and IEP goals from student profiles.
  • Organisational Skills: Capable of managing timetables, program schedules, and post-program evaluations to track student progress.
  • Teamwork: Proven ability to work as part of a team and assist in training new or trainee Learning Support Teacher Aides.
