Accounting Services Manager | 6–7 Month Contract | 200k Package | Melbourne Location

I am currently recruiting for an Accounting Services Manager to step into a hands-on, leadership-focused contract role for a large transactional finance function. This is a critical backfill supporting the Head of Accounting Services during a key period, with a contract term of 6–7 months starting before 1 September.

This role is ideal for someone with strong accounting leadership experience, excellent month-end delivery skills, and the ability to guide and coach a capable but developing team through complex transactional and operational challenges.

The Opportunity

• Lead a team of 15, including 2 team leaders, covering transactional finance operations
• Oversee and review month-end reporting, balance sheet reconciliations, and P2P-related financial processes
• Drive accountability across the team to meet reporting deadlines and improve day-to-day delivery
• Focus on resolving core operational issues such as purchasing delays, invoicing problems, and reconciliation backlogs
• Spend around 80 percent reviewing and coaching, with the balance spent on hands-on support or ad hoc requests from the Head of Finance
• Act as a stabilising presence during a busy period, with a focus on team guidance, month-end quality, and operational clean-up

What You Will Bring

• CA/CPA-qualified with deep experience in financial operations and reporting
• Proven leadership in transactional finance teams, ideally in a construction, infrastructure or project-based environment
• Strong understanding of P2P, % of completion revenue recognition, and how operational processes impact the P&L
• Empathetic leadership style with the ability to guide, review, and coach without micro-managing
• Hands-on SAP S4/HANA experience is advantageous
• Comfortable with reconciliations, process troubleshooting and team capability uplift

The Details

• Contract through to end of March 2026 (start before 1 September)
• 200k package total remuneration (or equivalent daily rate)
• Based in Melbourne preferred with hybrid working (2 days office, 3 from home)
