Design Manager – Lead Delivery on Landmark Projects

A rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced Design Manager to join a well-regarded Tier 1/Tier 2 commercial builder with a reputation for delivering complex, multi-storey projects with excellence. Known for its innovative approach, collaborative culture, and robust pipeline of negotiated work, this company is looking for someone who can take ownership of the design coordination during project delivery—not just at the front end.

The Role
This is a delivery-focused Design Manager role, working closely with project teams to ensure build ability, compliance, and seamless integration of design during construction. You will play a critical role in driving outcomes across key project phases, resolving technical challenges, and ensuring client and stakeholder expectations are met.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the design delivery process for complex, multi-storey commercial builds
• Ensure all designs meet compliance, constructibility, and project objectives
• Coordinate with consultants, engineers, and site teams to resolve design issues during delivery
• Oversee façade design development and installation, ensuring alignment with performance and aesthetic standards
• Monitor adherence to NCC and relevant codes, managing risks proactively
• Drive collaborative outcomes across design, project, and site teams to ensure smooth delivery

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience as a Design Manager with a strong focus on delivery phase challenges
• Previous involvement in multistorey projects, ideally within commercial, mixed-use, or institutional builds
• Deep understanding of façade systems, including design resolution, buildability, and compliance
• Strong knowledge of BCA/NCC and code compliance processes
• Excellent coordination, communication, and stakeholder management skills
• Background in architecture, engineering, or construction management
