Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) is a 783-bed tertiary hospital offering a range of health services including the State Rehabilitation Service, a comprehensive cancer centre, purpose-built mental health unit, maternity, paediatric and neonatal services, and the State Adult Burns Service. FSH also delivers specialised services such as heart and lung transplantations and hyperbaric medicine.

Fremantle Hospital is a 300-bed specialist hospital focused on providing high-quality aged care, mental health, secondary rehabilitation, planned surgeries and medical services.

We are seeking a Senior Speech Pathologist to join our team. The successful applicant/s will practice as a Senior Speech Pathologist in accordance to the Speech Pathology Australia Code of Ethics, the Speech Pathology Australia Scope of Practice and SMHS policies and guidelines. As part of the inter-disciplinary team, they will provide advanced, high quality direct clinical care and support to other staff in the specialty area of Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) with a mixed head and neck cancer and voice caseload. This role will contribute to the profession through application of evidence based practice and policy and provide supervision to the P1 staff in the unit/clinical area. Acts as a Speech Pathology clinical consultant/resource to Speech Pathologists and other health professionals locally and regionally in the area of specialty. Plans, implements and evaluates patient safety and quality of care in the area of specialty.

Fiona Stanley Hospital has the largest ENT/H&N service in Western Australia and there are abundant opportunities within the Speech Pathology team and service for professional growth and development including:

  • Advance Scope of Practice roles and first contact clinics
  • Credentialing in specialist competences such as stroboscopy, instrumental swallowing and altered airways
  • Opportunities to participate in clinical research with the support of the FSFHG Speech Pathology Research Coordinator and established networks with Universities
  • Allied Health Education service offering tailored learning programs for clinical and professional leadership and career development.
