Senior Geotechnical Engineer

Our client is a globally recognised ASX 50 gold mining company with large-scale operations across Western Australia and North America.

An exciting opportunity now exists for an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join an underground Technical Services team operating on a 5/2 4/3 roster with 10-hour shifts. FIFO or residential available.

Key responsibilities:

Lead and support a team of underground Geotechnical Engineers

Develop and implement work plans and geotechnical systems that align with operational strategy and site goals

Identify and deliver geotechnical improvement projects focused on safety, efficiency, and profitability

Provide technical guidance on ground conditions and design effective ground support strategies for current and planned mining areas

Collaborate closely with the production and design teams on extraction plans, sequencing, stress modelling, and stope performance

Coordinate QA/QC activities including underground scaling, rehabilitation, and rock bolt testing programs

Maintain and review the Ground Control Management Plan (GCMP)

Contribute to the development and oversight of geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring programs

Provide regular reporting on geotechnical performance and schedule compliance.

About you:

Tertiary qualifications in Geotechnical Engineering or related discipline

Previous underground geotechnical experience in a mechanised hard-rock mining environment

Proficiency in mine design software (Deswik preferred)

Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills

Current WA “C” class manual driver’s licence.
