We are excited to offer an opportunity to join our Little Stars Early Learning Centre team. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Early Childhood Teacher to join our Kindergarten room on a 12-month maternity leave contract. In this role, you will make a daily difference in children’s lives by nurturing their active minds and bodies and helping them develop a strong foundation for lifelong learning.

About the Role

As an experienced Early Childhood Teacher, you will foster a love of learning and create a safe, supportive environment for children to thrive.

Key details:

Part-time, 12-month maternity leave position in our Kindergarten room (Wednesday, Thursday & Friday)

Sessional teaching hours with paid school holidays (7 weeks total: 4 weeks at Christmas and 1 week each term)

Working hours: 8:00am–4:00pm (including 1.5 hours daily programming time) or 8:30am–4:30pm depending on centre needs

About You

You are an educator who is passionate about creating a nurturing space where children can grow and flourish. You bring strong knowledge of early childhood education frameworks and a commitment to ongoing reflection and improvement.

Your skills and experience include:

Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (or ACECQA-approved equivalent)

Strong understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework and National Quality Standards

Experience planning and implementing high-quality educational programs

Ability to critically reflect, set goals, and contribute to quality improvement processes

Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective relationships with children, families, and colleagues

Knowledge of children’s developmental stages and a commitment to meeting their emotional, physical, spiritual, and cognitive needs

Familiarity with the National Early Childhood legislation and National Quality Framework

Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card) and First Aid/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)

Knowledge of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (PYP), or a willingness to learn

Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging learning programs using the EYLF, Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines, and PYP frameworks

Maintain accurate documentation to support each child’s learning and development journey

Create a safe, secure, and supportive environment that fosters children’s wellbeing and growth

Build positive relationships with children, families, and the wider school community

Collaborate with Junior Years teachers to ensure a smooth transition for children from Kindergarten to Prep

Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in early childhood education
