Hazel Nominees Pty Ltd T/A Augusta Westside Medical Centre in Port Augusta, South Australia seeks Full time Accountant.
The successful candidate will manage the financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and financial planning. This role requires someone who can work independently, has a strong understanding of medical and health accounting, and is familiar with the unique financial needs of a regional business.
Key responsibilities will include:
· Work with various departments within the business to examine operating costs, expenditure, and income
· Assist with budgeting processes, financial forecasts and tracking performance against budgets.
· Prepare and analyse financial statements for the various parts of the business, ensuring accuracy and compliance with statutory and accounting standards.
· Present simplified financial statements to management to review operating costs, income, expenditure and any issues of concern.
· Process payroll accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with tax and employment regulations.
· Monitor cash flow to ensure efficient use of funds and identify any risks. Prepare reports for management on cash flow position.
· Provide financial and taxation advice on business structures, plans and operations
· Prepare tax returns and ensure compliance with Australian Taxation Office (ATO) regulations, BAS, GST, PAYG, and other statutory requirements.
· Work with management to identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies for expense management
· Summarise current financial status by collecting information, preparing balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other reports for Management
· conduct financial investigations, preparing reports, undertake regular audits and advise on financial and taxation advice
· Continuously examine operating costs whilst monitoring income and expenditure
· Advise, improve and maintain accounting systems
· Assist with taxation and other statutory compliance
· Recommending and implementing new policies and procedures
The incumbent must have:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CA or CPA certification (preferred but not required).
• Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years in an accounting role, ideally within the medical and health industry.
• Software Proficiency: Knowledge of accounting and other software (e.g., Pracsoft, Medical Director, MYOB, Xero) and MS Office, particularly Excel.
• Knowledge of Tax and Compliance: Familiarity with ATO regulations, GST, and payroll requirements in Australia.

Attention to Detail: High degree of accuracy in work, with excellent organisational skills.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with team members and management.
Problem-solving: Ability to identify financial discrepancies and resolve issues efficiently.
Salary range $77,000 - to $82,000
