Position Overview
We’re seeking a highly skilled Senior AV Technician to join our team in a fixed full-time role from August to February 2026. This role will lead and elevate the delivery of cutting-edge technical services across HOTA’s diverse venues and programs.
As a key member of the Technical Services team, you’ll play an integral role in ensuring the seamless day-to-day operation of HOTA’s Audio-Visual systems, while supporting the Technical Operations Manager with staff supervision, equipment maintenance, and operational planning.
What you’ll do:
Lead and supervise AV operations across all HOTA venues, ensuring professional standards and safety.
Operate and manage complex AV systems to deliver exceptional outcomes for events, exhibitions, and performances.
Support and mentor technicians, contractors, and interns, contributing to a culture of excellence and learning.
Maintain and monitor AV equipment, consumables, and assist with asset renewal programs.
Collaborate with clients, artists, and production teams to design and deliver creative AV solutions.
Provide cross-departmental support across lighting, staging, and rigging as needed.
About You
Proven experience operating and maintaining advanced AV systems in a multi-venue environment.
Strong leadership and communication skills with a passion for mentoring others.
A solution-focused mindset and ability to work collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders.
High attention to detail and organisational skills, with experience in planning and reporting.
Familiarity with venue management systems and strong technical documentation practices.
What you’ll need:
Completion of Year 12 certificate or equivalent.
Audio-Visual systems training or formal qualifications (highly regarded).
A current driver’s license.
First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain).
Blue Card (Working with Children Check) or the ability to obtain one.
Test and Tag certification, EWPA Yellow Card, or Rigger’s License (advantageous).
Restricted electrical license/training would be a plus.
