About the Opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Division of Paediatric Medicine as a Registered/Clinical Nurse, where you will be responsible for:

Registered Nurse;

  • Providing nursing and/or midwifery services in health service settings.
  • Developing from novice practitioners to a proficient level of professional practice, consolidating knowledge and skills, and growing capability through continuous professional development and experience.
  • Accepting accountability for personal standards of nursing/midwifery care and for activities delegated to others.

Clinical Nurse;

  • Providing nursing and/or midwifery services in diverse health service settings, consolidated by experience and/or further study, with the role remaining predominantly clinical but including assigned portfolios negotiated in line with career development plans.
  • Developing from competent to proficient practitioners through ongoing clinical experience and continuous professional development, consolidating knowledge and skills to enhance capability.
  • Accepting accountability for personal practice standards, activities delegated to others, and supporting the guidance and development of less experienced staff.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.
  • Demonstrated competence in the relevant area of nursing practice in accordance with the appropriate standards of practice.
  • Effective communication skills including, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

If you are applying as a clinical nurse you will also need;

  • Registered Nurse/Midwife with at least 3 years, full time equivalent, post registration experience.
  • Experience in the leadership and direction of student nurses, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses.
