Based in Northern Tasmania, we’ve quickly earned a strong reputation for delivering high-quality customer service and professional repairs of commercial trucks, buses, and plant equipment. As the official Tasmanian Volvo Penta Industrial dealer, we provide expert servicing and support for Volvo Penta engines statewide. Due to our continued growth, we’ve secured a new workshop and are expanding our team from field service to include:

1-2 Workshop-Based Diesel Mechanics (Field Service may be required)

1-2 Apprentices

About the Role

As a Workshop-Based Diesel Mechanic, you’ll work in our newly secured workshop, diagnosing, servicing, and repairing a wide variety of commercial vehicles and equipment, including trucks, buses, mobile plant, and Volvo Penta products. There may also be occasional field service work, depending on business needs.

Key responsibilities include:

Performing regular servicing, inspections, and mechanical repairs

Diagnosing and resolving mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic system faults

Conducting preventative maintenance to ensure optimal equipment performance

Using diagnostic tools and software to identify issues and provide effective solutions

Collaborating with customers and operators to manage job schedules and ensure timely completion

Field Service work may be required for certain repairs or urgent customer needs

For Apprentices, you'll work under the guidance of experienced mechanics to develop your skills in all aspects of diesel mechanics, including hands-on training with commercial vehicles and machinery.

What We’re Looking For

Workshop-Based Diesel Mechanic:

A qualified Diesel Mechanic with trade certification (4th-year apprentices will also be considered for the right candidate)

Current driver's license – HC and Forklift tickets are a bonus

Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and experience with both electrical and hydraulic systems

A proactive, self-motivated approach with great attention to detail

Good communication and time-management skills

Experience with road transport, Volvo Penta products, or materials handling is a plus

Field service experience is a plus but not essential

Computer based diagnostic experience is preferred

Apprentices:

Enthusiastic individuals eager to learn the trade

A strong interest in diesel mechanics and the automotive industry

Ability to work effectively within a team

A positive attitude and willingness to grow professionally

Willingness to commit to hands-on learning and development

Current driver's or motorcycle license
