Senior Property Officer (Construction and Inspections) – NSW Trustee and Guardian

1 x Ongoing full-time vacancy available. 35 hours per week.

Location: This role is based in Parramatta. Flexible and hybrid working options – up to 2 days working from home is available. For a period of 3-6 months, you will be required to work 5 days per week in the Office for training purposes.

Clerk Grade: 5/6. Base salary $99,938 pa to $110,271 p.a. plus super and annual leave loading.

About the team

The Property Services team works with the Estate Management and the Estate Planning and Administration Divisions.

The Estate Management Division makes financial and legal decisions for people who are unable to on their own, or with support, when NSW Trustee and Guardian is appointed as their financial manager by a court or tribunal. The division also oversees people who are appointed to privately manage the finances of another person.

The Estate Planning & Administration division is responsible for delivering NSW Trustee & Guardian’s commercial services in Will making, as trustee, attorney, and as administrator/executor of deceased estates. The teams administer assets in accordance with the functions and obligations under the relevant legislation and make legal decisions within legal frameworks and NSWTG’s prescribed delegations.

The division delivers high quality service using a customer-centred approach and is delivered by:

· Estate Administration

· Trust and Powers of Attorney Administration

· Intestate, Life Estates and Crime Confiscation/Civil Forfeiture administration

· Wills and Estate Planning

These divisions deliver high quality financial, estate management, executor and trustee administration services using a customer-centred approach.

About the role

The Senior Property Officer plays a pivotal role in delivering high-quality, consistent, and timely services to both internal and external customers. This position involves handling complex matters related to coordinating the construction, modification, major renovations, and repairs of customer properties. You will manage external providers and liaise with planning authorities and other relevant parties to ensure seamless project execution.

Key responsibilities include providing advice to resolve disputes, maintaining sensitivity and discretion in handling complex or contentious issues, and ensuring a coordinated approach on construction and maintenance matters by working closely with customers, stakeholders, and teams within NSW Trustee and Guardian.

The key challenges of the role include managing work outputs and competing demands to generate favourable outcomes for all customers and stakeholders, assisting customers and their families in understanding building contracts and supervising builders, and balancing advisable or desired property renovations or repairs with affordability, considering customer disabilities, needs, and expectations.

About you

Applications are encouraged if you demonstrate the following skills, knowledge and experience:

Proven expertise in construction project management, building contract administration, and the procurement and engagement of construction contractors.

A demonstrated ability to develop positive and effective working relationships, manage interdependencies and balance competing demands from various stakeholders across the business

A strong understanding of Australian building standards

Experience in coordinating the construction, modification, major renovations and repairs in properties.

A NSW builders licence is preferred.

Essential requirements

Tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in building, complex construction or project management and capacity to interpret and provide advice on building plans and specifications.

Capacity to manage external service providers in the construction, renovation and repairs of properties to meet the needs of customers, having regard to their specific needs.

Understanding of NSW government and NSWTG’s key services and customer base.

All roles in NSWTG require a willingness to have phone calls monitored for quality and training purposes.
