Full Stack Developer

SiMERR National Centre

Fixed term to 31 December 2026 with the possibility of extension.

Current UNE Staff: In taking up this appointment, please be aware your current fixed term or permanent role will cease the day prior to you taking this position

$ 89,663 to $ 98,556 per annum (HEO6)

Plus 17% employer superannuation

Salary packaging options are available

20 days family and domestic violence leave available per annum

10 days Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural and ceremonial leave per annum

5 weeks annual leave plus Christmas week shutdown, per annum

Armidale based role however off campus working remotely may be considered.

About the role

The Full Stack Developer will be responsible for developing and maintaining web and mobile applications, ensuring they effectively meet the needs of SiMERR stakeholders.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have the ability to provide specialist knowledge and support to SiMERR staff and stakeholders in the development and maintenance of web and mobile applications, ensuring the effective implementation of the latest programming languages, software, and frameworks such as PHP, Flutter, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and MySQL. You will actively participate in the collaborative process inherent to an agile working environment, utilising version control, test-first development, issue tracking, and wikis to ensure high-quality project outcomes. Additionally, your role involves responding to queries, diagnosing, and resolving any issues related to these technologies, as well as developing and optimising database schemas, procedures, views, and triggers to enhance application efficiency and effectiveness. Your responsibilities extend to ensuring that project tasks are executed successfully, with deliverables meeting agreed expectations for quality, timeliness, cost-efficiency, and effectiveness. You will proactively identify, monitor, and communicate risks and issues, providing timely reporting and recommendations to the IT Manager. Participating in the analysis of customer requirements, you will provide technical solutions that meet these needs, applying your specialist technical expertise to review proposed solutions and ensuring they align with business objectives. This includes software development, documentation, testing, acceptance, design, implementation, and ongoing support. A key part of your role is developing and maintaining constructive relationships with the SiMERR IT Team and all relevant internal and external customers, engaging proactively to fully understand their goals and needs.

In addition, the preferred candidate will be available to work full-time on the University of New England’s Armidale campus. However, remote working arrangements may be considered.

About SiMERR

The SiMERR National Research Centre consists of a team of approx. 20 people including academic staff whose expertise lies in science, mathematics and ICT education and addressing learning difficulties. SiMERR has a significant focus on numeracy and literacy basic skills through its QuickSmart program. The Quick Smart program comprises a suite of numeracy and literacy interventions designed to meet the diverse needs of at-risk learners, such as underachieving school students in Years 4 to 10, educationally disadvantaged adult learners in correctional centres, apprentices struggling with vocational courses and individuals living in remote communities.
