About the role:
This is a hands-on leadership role.
You’ll still be on the tools — but you’ll also be the standard-setter in the field.
– take the lead on service calls, maintenance and breakdowns — from ducted systems to vrv
– own the diagnosis, guide the apprentice, and get the job done properly
– coach junior techs — don’t just bark orders, actually teach
– keep Servicem8 sharp — real-time notes, photos, no memory-based guessing
– stay in touch with the service manager — flag delays, client feedback, follow-ups
– help spot upsells, quote support, and customer upgrades where needed
– represent the brand in the field — clean, respectful, reliable
You’re trusted to manage your day and your jobs — the right way.
What you'll actually be doing:
– diagnosing and repairing split, ducted, vrv/vrf and multi-head systems
– owning jobs from start to finish — clean, correct, client-ready
– leading by example on-site — safety, standards, attitude
– mentoring apprentices and junior techs — show your thinking, build their skills
– documenting properly in servicem8 — job notes, materials, before/after photos
– managing your van stock — restock ahead of time, not after the fact
– helping identify quote and upgrade opportunities
– maintaining clean, compliant sites — zero shortcuts, zero mess
– being proactive with communication — no ghosting the office or clients
– showing up on time, prepared, and with the right mindset
What you'll need:
– certificate iii in air con & refrigeration
– arctick refrigerant handling licence
– white card + valid driver’s licence
– 5+ years hands-on in service and maintenance
– proven experience mentoring or leading others on-site
– strong comms + client relationship skills
– confidence using Servicem8 or similar job software
– pride in your work, and zero tolerance for dodgy jobs
what good looks like:
– 95%+ of jobs completed on time and to spec
– 100% of jobs updated in Servicem8 with clean notes + photos
– <5% repeat callouts within 30 days
– van kept clean + stocked weekly — photos submitted
– quotes supported within 48 hours of diagnosis
– upsell wins + opportunities flagged proactively
– zero safety breaches, fully compliant sites
