About the role:
The HSU is excited to recruit a Public Health Industrial Team Manager. This is a full-time position based in our Sydney CBD Head Office. Please note that this position is an in-office role.
This role leads and supports industrial officers, ensuring effective case management and advocacy. It involves mentoring, training, recruitment, and professional development. The position shapes the Union’s industrial and political agenda, represents HSU in high-level negotiations, and engages with external committees. It also manages major industrial matters, including arbitrations, documentation, and reporting to the Executive Team and Divisional Managers.
Responsibilities:
Manage and support industrial officers, ensuring effective case management.
Mentor staff, foster career development, and oversee training programs.
Participate in recruitment, induction, and ongoing professional development of team members.
Contribute to the strategic direction of the Union’s industrial and political agenda.
Represent HSU in high-level negotiations with government and public sector bodies.
Engage with external committees and working groups on industrial matters.
Have carriage of industrial matters including significant arbitrations before the Industrial Relations Commission, the Fair Work Commission and other relevant courts and tribunals.
Ensure accurate documentation and case management processes.
Provide regular industrial metrics and reports to the Executive Team and Divisional Managers.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Expertise in employment law and / or Industrial Relations Practice.
Strong industrial relations experience in both state and federal jurisdictions.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
Experience in coaching and developing Industrial Officers
Remuneration:
$147,000 plus 12% Employee Superannuation Contributions
