This position is on contract for 12 months with possible opportunity for extension.
About the Role
As a key member of the Leadership team, this position provides strategic leadership and oversight across all program areas of Community Gro, including Garbutt Neighbourhood Centre programs, Upper Ross Neighbourhood Centre programs, Youth Services programs, and Connected Beginnings and HIPPY. The role works closely with the CEO, Manager of HR & Finance, and other Managers to achieve the organisation’s strategic and operational goals. It requires providing supportive leadership and fostering a safe, inclusive, and welcoming workplace culture, as well as managing program budgets to ensure sound financial stewardship and the effective use of resources, including identifying and optimising funding opportunities. Additionally, the role is responsible for ensuring legal and regulatory compliance and fulfilling governance and reporting obligations. This is a senior leadership position that plays a critical role in maintaining high-quality services and driving positive outcomes for the communities Community Gro supports.
Objectives:
Contribute to continuous improvement of the organisation as a member of the leadership team.
Oversee the delivery of high quality programs and services.
Drive community engagement and develop and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.
Provide supportive leadership and create a safe and welcoming workplace culture.
Achieve sound financial management for the organisation including optimising funding opportunities.
Ensure legal and regulatory compliance and fulfilment of governance reporting obligations.
Skills and Experience
SC 1 Experienced senior manager with relevant graduate qualifications in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Business or equivalent AND significant specialist experience leading multiple similar community programs.
SC 2 Significant knowledge and experience gained of procedures, protocols and legislation applicable to the Neighbourhood Centres, youth services, and community services sector.
SC 3 Experienced people leader with previous oversight of employment and safety systems, policies and programs which meet legislated requirements and achievement of high levels of employee safety, engagement, performance and satisfaction.
SC 4 Commitment to the achievement of quality outcomes and well-developed knowledge and experience of best practice interventions, including developing and implementing practice frameworks and program logics relating to like programs that are accredited with the Human Services Quality Framework, or similar.
SC 5 Adept at applying different communication styles and leadership approaches to engage, communicate with and influence the management team, staff, volunteers, key stakeholders, government bodies, other businesses and community organisations.
SC 6 Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills to solve organisational issues, negotiate issues and prepare and present governance reports. Tender writing experience desirable.
SC 7 Effective time management with the ability to manage and organise a range of activities and individuals while maintaining solutions focus, positive, calm and resilient demeanour.
Other Essential Requirements
Current QLD C Class Driver’s licence
Current satisfactory National Police Check
Current positive Working with Children Blue Card
