Yinhawangka Aboriginal Corporation (YAC) is seeking a dynamic, grounded and community-minded leader to step into a unique role based in Paraburdoo. As Manager – Place Based Development, you’ll lead on-the-ground initiatives that support Yinhawangka community aspirations—building programs and relationships that strengthen cultural identity, local leadership, and wellbeing.

You’ll be responsible for:

Leading YAC’s community consultation and member services

Supporting development in Wakathuni and Bellary communities

Managing and mentoring our Pilbara-based team

Building partnerships that enable locally-led impact

Coordinating activities for the Living Cultures project and Yinhawangka Ranger Program

This is more than program management—it’s a leadership role rooted in trust, cultural integrity and people-first practice. The successful candidate will bring deep respect for Aboriginal self-determination, strong experience in place-based work, and the capacity to build genuine, respectful relationships with Yinhawangka people.

What We’re Looking For

A background in community development, environmental programs, social services or similar

Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal communities in regional/remote settings

Proven leadership and team development skills

Strong relational, communication and stakeholder engagement skills

Courage, adaptability and a commitment to community-led ways of working
