Mental Health Social Worker – Veteran Health Services

About the Role:
In this role, you will provide clinical support to Veterans experiencing mental health challenges. Through a combination of individual case management and group program facilitation, you will empower participants to improve sleep hygiene, manage trauma-related symptoms, and strengthen resilience. Services are provided both in person and via telehealth to support the needs of the clients.

Key Responsibilities:

Individual Case Management

• Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments with a focus on mental health needs
• Deliver one-on-one counselling using trauma-informed, evidence-based approaches (including CBT-I) via face-to-face and telehealth
• Collaborate with GPs and allied health providers to ensure coordinated care

Group Program Delivery

• Facilitate group sessions that promote sleep health, emotional regulation, mindfulness and peer support
• Create safe, inclusive environments that encourage shared learning and resilience-building

Compliance & Documentation

• Maintain accurate and timely client documentation aligned with Medicare and DVA requirements
• Submit Treatment Referral Notes (TRNs) and MBS claims in a timely manner

Advocacy & Collaboration

• Advocate for Veterans’ health needs within the healthcare system and broader community
• Engage in multidisciplinary collaboration and case conferencing to enhance outcomes

About You:

• Bachelor or Master of Social Work (AASW-accredited)
• Accredited Mental Health Social Worker (AMHSW) with current AASW membership
• Eligibility to bill under Medicare and DVA mental health programs
• Minimum two years' post-qualification experience in mental health
• Demonstrated experience in trauma-informed care and sleep-related interventions

Desirable

• Training or certification in CBT-I or sleep health
• Experience working with Veterans or in Veteran-specific services
• Confidence in delivering services via telehealth platforms
